Atropatena State; Atropatena (Old Kurdish: Ατροπατήνη) or Media Atropatena, 4 BC. it is an ancient kingdom that was founded in the region known as present-day Iranian Azerbaijan and Iranian Kurdistan for most of the century,[2] and its capital was the city of Gazaka[3]. The historical name of today's Azerbaijan originated from Atropatena[4]. After the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BC, the territory of the empire he founded was divided among Alexander's diad Decs (successors). Media, the region of the old Achaemenid Empire, was divided into two provinces: Big Media (Media Magna) in the south and Small Media (Media Atropatena) in the north[5]. Küçük Medya came under the control of Atropat, the former Achaemenish governor of all Media and the father-in-law of regent Perdikas appointed by Alexander, and Atropat gave its own name to the region[6]. After a short time, Atropates gave up paying loyalty to the Seleucid Empire and Media made Atropatena an independent kingdom[6]. Later, losing the Media prefix, he recognized it only as Atropena. The Atropat Dynasty ruled the region for several centuries, first independently[7], then as a vassal of the Arshak Dynasty[8]. Atropatena was eventually annexed by the Arshakids and later came under the control of the Sassanid Empire[9] and the Sassanids renamed the region Aturpatakan again. between the years 639 and 643, Atropatena came under the control of the Caliphate ruled by Umar ibn Khattab, one of the Four Great Caliphs[10] Dec. Atropatena/Aturpatkan, which formed a separate state during this period, had great strategic importance and finally underwent a change in the form of Azerbaijan under the influence of Arabic.[4] 👑Kings Atropatena state👑 AtropatBC/321/300 UnknownBC/300/270.
