What is the true source of the infamous F430 oil leaks? It's not what you would think..... 👉 Want to see more from the world of Ferrari? Check out more videos here: • The World of Ferrari Nearly every Ferrari F430 suffers from this oil-leak issue — but the severity can vary drastically from car to car. It’s one of the most commonly misdiagnosed Ferrari oil leaks, and in many cases, it’s ignored entirely. And it's not just the F430 — I see this exact failure across almost every modern chain-driven Ferrari engine, including both Ferrari V8 and V12 models. Many initially assume this is a timing cover gasket leak, but the reality is far more specific: this is a head gasket design flaw. The failure point is a small silicone insert molded into the end of the factory head gasket where it meets the timing cover. Over time, this silicone piece can shift or dislodge, causing oil to seep out and creating what appears to be a timing cover leak — when it’s actually a Ferrari head gasket leak. The tolerance for oil leaks varies by owner — some want every drop addressed immediately, others are less concerned depending on mileage, usage, and the car’s value. But understanding the true cause is key to choosing the right repair strategy. In this video, I walk through how I confirm the source of the leak on this F430, explain the underlying engineering issue, and discuss the repair options available — from temporary solutions to a full permanent fix.
