🚴 Kolkata to Aurangabad – Day 1 of Our Epic Ladakh Ride 🚴 Date: 30th June 2025 The adventure began on a rainy note. 🌧️ It was exactly 8:30 PM when five of us geared up, loaded our bikes, and rolled out of Kolkata, our hearts pounding with excitement and a little bit of worry. Since morning, the skies had been pouring relentlessly. We couldn’t help but think, "If the very first day starts like this, what challenges are waiting ahead?" But fate had its own plan. As soon as our wheels hit the road, the rain left us alone. The air turned cool, the highways stretched ahead, and we started believing this was going to be one unforgettable journey. Of course, what’s an extreme ride without some drama? That very night, Tapas’s bike gave us not one, not two, but three back-to-back punctures! ⛓️ Every stop ate into our precious riding hours, and with each repair, our energy started to drain. But the road had more in store—at one point, Anik’s bike broke down, forcing us to halt again. And then came the biggest twist—Debojyoti’s KTM ADV 390 started losing air in the rear tyre. Upon inspection, we discovered that due to low air pressure, the rear rim had bent after hitting a pothole, letting air escape continuously. From that moment on, we had to keep topping up air every now and then just to keep going. Our original target was ambitious—Kolkata to Varanasi in a single stretch—a distance of 690 km. But with all the breakdowns, the clock was not on our side. Instead, we ended Day 1 in Aurangabad, Bihar, far short of the plan, but with a story that already felt like a full-blown adventure. The roads overall were smooth and well-maintained, except for a few rough patches near Kolkata. Once we crossed into Bihar, the highways opened up beautifully. Day 1 takeaway: It was a roller-coaster—rain worries, smooth highways, unexpected breakdowns, and that thrilling feeling of knowing the ride had only just begun. If Day 1 was this intense, what would the mountains bring? Stay tuned.
