Official Ninja Nerd Website: https://ninjanerd.org Ninja Nerds! In this lecture, Professor Zach Murphy will review the upper limb's anatomy using a detailed anatomical model. We will begin by examining the muscles of the shoulder region, including the deltoid, rotator cuff group (supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, subscapularis), and other scapular stabilizers such as the teres major and pectoralis major and minor, discussing their attachments, innervation, and biomechanical functions. We will then move distally to study the arm muscles, including the biceps brachii, brachialis, coracobrachialis, and triceps brachii, before exploring the forearm muscles in both the anterior (flexor-pronator) and posterior (extensor-supinator) compartments. We will emphasize their layered arrangement, specific actions on the wrist and digits, and neural control via the brachial plexus branches. Finally, we will review the intrinsic muscles of the hand, including the thenar, hypothenar, interossei, and lumbricals, integrating their role in fine motor control and grip strength. This lecture will provide a comprehensive, three-dimensional understanding of upper limb muscular anatomy using the model as a visual aid.
