A Cesarean section is a procedure where the baby is removed from the mother’s womb from a surgical incision on the abdomen and the uterus and this is done under anesthesia. This is usually done as an anesthesia when the patient is laboring and hasn’t progressed. Sometimes it may be planned to do the Cesarean section well in advance, even before the patient sent into labor. So when can we plan this Cesarean section? Generally when the patient has not set into labor. We plan to do the Cesarean section at 39 week when we expect the baby to be mature or as close to the due date a s possible. However it has been known that 37 weeks that is considered as term, is also as safe as 39 weeks and there may not be much complications that may arise even if we do it at term or by 37 weeks. however in some cases, a Cesarean section that is scheduled slightly earlier may cause complications such as prematurity of the baby, and it can cause difficulties in breathing or respiratory problems to the baby. So it is necessary that we plan the Cesarean section as close to the due date as possible.
