Webinar title: Mind the Gap: Physical Health in inpatient CAMHS Timestamps: 00:05 Welcome & Introductions, Emma Wilson Presenters: Professor Sophie Parker, Director of JUICE and Consultant Clinical Psychologist, GMMH Dr Rebekah Carney, Research Associate, JUICE, GMMH This webinar shared insights GMMH's Y-Health study, a 6-month longitudinal investigation into the physical health of adolescents admitted to Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) inpatient units. It highlights the significant physical health risks faced by young people in these settings, including rising rates of overweight and obesity, poor lifestyle behaviours, and emerging metabolic conditions. The session explored: The impact of the inpatient environment on physical health. Challenges in routine monitoring and continuity of care post-discharge. Insights from qualitative interviews with young people about their experiences. Recommendations for clinical practice, including improved monitoring, staff training, and co-designed interventions. The interplay between mental and physical health in adolescent inpatient care and practical strategies to improve outcomes.
