It highlights the significant physical health risks faced by young people in these settings, including rising rates of overweight and obesity, poor lifestyle behaviours, and emerging metabolic conditions. The session explored: The impact of the inpatient environment on physical health. Challenges in routine monitoring and continuity of care post-discharge. Insights from qualitative interviews with young people about their experiences. Recommendations for clinical practice, including improved monitoring, staff training, and co-designed interventions. The interplay between mental and physical health in adolescent inpatient care and practical strategies to improve outcomes.
