Chubb 6K174 Pin & Cam Decode System — High-Security Lever Lock Solution The Chubb 6K174 Pin & Cam System is a proven professional decoding method developed by Falle-Safe Securities in 1991. Originally designed for the Chubb Castle mortice lock, the Pin & Cam system has become one of the most effective and user-friendly ways to decode and open high-security lever lock mechanisms. This version is designed to work across all common variants, including 6K174, 6K18, TDR and Channel Lock models. The system is effective regardless of the number of levers in the lock and is not defeated by false notching, barrel and curtain arrangements, or pick-protector mechanisms. Rather than relying on traditional picking, the Pin & Cam System operates on a controlled, mechanical principle similar to impressioning. A tubular key tip accepts interchangeable pins of different lengths, effectively creating a variable key. A built-in tester mechanism allows each pin to be checked under torque to determine whether the corresponding lever is correctly set. How the system works (overview) Longest pins are inserted initially to form a “blank” key profile (pin #2 for 6K174). Torque is applied via the handle grip. Each pin is tested for free movement using the integrated tester mechanism. Binding pins indicate incorrect length and are replaced with shorter pins. Loose pins are left unchanged. Repeating the process gradually forms the correct key profile until the lock opens. Once opened, the pin positions can be read to determine the full working key code. False notches do not defeat the system, as only correctly positioned levers remain loose until the lock opens. Key features Designed for Chubb 6K174-type locks, including 6K18, TDR and Channel Lock versions. Effective regardless of lever count, false notching, or curtain/protector mechanisms. Mechanical, controlled alternative to traditional impressioning. Tubular key tip with interchangeable pins forms a true variable key system. Supplied with an organised pin box to keep the process clear and error-free. Produces both a working key and the lock’s code for future use. System advantages & limitations Widely regarded as one of the most effective methods for defeating high-security lever locks. Relatively quick and repeatable once familiar with the process. Requires basic understanding of lever lock mechanics but is highly user-friendly compared with many picking techniques. Intended strictly for lawful, authorised use by licensed locksmiths, safe engineers and security professionals.
