In this talk from Mark 6, we pick up the story right after the feeding of the 5,000 — and straight into a storm. Jesus sends the disciples out onto the lake, the wind rises, fear kicks in, and then Jesus does the unthinkable: He walks on the water to them. The big question we wrestle with is simple: Why would Jesus send them out if the storm was coming? What we see is something deeply reassuring about Jesus: He is never distant. He is never passive. He is never unaware. Jesus is praying, watching, interceding — and then He moves from prayer into action. This message is for anyone who feels like they’re rowing hard, tired, confused, or stuck in a storm you didn’t ask for. Faith is a muscle, and sometimes discipleship looks like obedience when the waters are rough — trusting that if Jesus sends you into it, He will see you through it. And right in the middle of the fear, Jesus speaks the words we all need: “Be brave. It is I. Don’t be afraid.” (And that “It is I” is the language of “I AM.”) You can give here: www.unltd.church/give Catch all talks here: www.unltd.church/talks Timestamps 0:00 – Welcome, TikTok live, baptisms, Mark series recap 0:48 – Recap: disciples sent out; John the Baptist executed; Feeding the 5,000 2:26 – Setting the scene: Jesus sends them onto the lake 2:48 – Bible reading: Mark 6:45–56 4:10 – Quick discussion: what surprised you in the passage? 4:29 – The big question: why send them into the storm? 5:19 – Natural and supernatural: God’s provision in both 6:26 – Jesus sees them: moving from prayer into action 7:54 – Discipleship and storms: Jesus with us / watching over us 9:45 – Faith is a muscle: trust, obedience, growth 11:50 – The faithful route isn’t always the easy route 12:48 – David, the Psalms, and praise in the storm 14:40 – Not your 2016 look… your 2036 faith 15:09 – Breakout questions 16:02 – Two traps: “paddle harder” and forgetting dependence on God 18:00 – “Later that night…” and the moment Jesus comes 19:07 – Water, resurrection, and a foretaste of what’s to come 20:47 – Fear and kindness: Jesus preparing them 22:33 – “How can I trust God?” (You learn by trusting) 23:33 – Jesus’ compassion can’t be stopped 24:30 – The call: be brave / “I AM” 25:23 – Conclusion: will you trust Jesus in the storm? #MarkGospel #JesusWalksOnWater #Faith #Discipleship #HolySpirit #Jesus #ChurchOnline #UNLTDChurch #Exeter #Baptisms
