"Elliptic Epic: The Waste Land, 1922", a special lecture by Prof Supriya Chaudhuri

The lecture celebrates the 100th anniversary of the publication of Eliot’s The Waste Land Bionote: Supriya Chaudhuri is Professor Emerita in the Department of English, Jadavpur University. Trained as an early modernist, she has written and published in the fields of Renaissance studies, critical theory, Indian cultural history, urban studies, sport, film and modernism. Recent publications include Religion and the City in India (2022) and Commodities and Culture in the Colonial World (2018); articles in Thesis 11, Postcolonial Studies and Spenser Studies; and chapters in The Form of Ideology and the Ideology of Form (2022), Machiavelli Then and Now: History, Politics, Literature (2022), Recycling Virginia Woolf in Contemporary Art and Literature (2022), The Cambridge Companion to Rabindranath Tagore (2020) and The Cambridge History of Travel Writing (2019). She is active in debates on the humanities, gender and intellectual liberty in India.
