The Coalition of Texans with Disabilities presents an exclusive interview with Dr. Temple Grandin, an American doctor of animal science and professor at Colorado State University, bestselling author, autistic activist, consultant to the livestock industry on animal behavior and the subject of the 2010 HBO film Temple Grandin, which won multiple Emmys. Combining Dr. Grandin's interview with excerpts from her book tour speech that evening and materials from her past, we and creative partner Golden Arm Productions produced a compelling documentary that opened our 2013 Cinema Touching Disability film festival at the Alamo Drafthouse Village in Austin, TX on November 1st. Dr. Grandin is an incredible person and an inspiration to millions. Her latest book, The Autistic Brain: Thinking Across the Spectrum, covers a wide range of topics around autism, including new groundbreaking scientific research, commentary on the state of autism diagnosis, and powerful insights for parents with children on the spectrum. The topics of her book are discussed throughout the interview, as well as insights into her past. -- The Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival and Short Film Competition is the top cinematic celebration of disability in Texas. In addition to Dr. Grandin's interview, we screened The Crash Reel, Getting Up: The Tempt One Story, an original short film about this year's Boston Marathon, and much more.
