Satan & Adam on 125th Street in Harlem (1989) - Listen to the Music

Raw street footage of Sterling "Mr. Satan" Magee (vocals, guitar, percussion) and Adam Gussow (harmonica) playing "Listen to the Music," an original composition of Magee's, filmed by an unknown observer on April 12, 1989. Magee and Gussow are performing at a sidewalk location just west of the Studio Museum in Harlem (144 W. 125th St.) where they were a common sight between 1986 and 1991. Magee (b. 1936) and Gussow (b. 1958) were 53 and 31 when this video was shot and had been playing together for two and a half years. They weren't yet known as Satan & Adam; that duo name was the title of their first recording, a cassette tape recorded the following February and released in May 1990. "Harlem Blues," their first album was released in 1991. "Satan & Adam," an award-winning documentary about the duo directed by V. Scott Balcerek, was released in 2018 and screened on Netflix for several years. This recently-discovered footage was NOT a part of that documentary.
