I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Icy Strait Point. I didn't expect the area to be so big, and I was surprised at the variety of activities that were offered. You can go all out on excursions -- or you can just take a nice long walk and look at the forest and the old cannery building. My hike from the top of the "red tram" was just what I needed after the constant activity on the cruise ship. It was quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. I was a bit distracted though, at the chance of a bear encounter -- even knowing there was a Tlingit guard on the treelike, providing overwatch for hikers like me. I'll definitely be back.
