Emigrant Trails Wyoming | Exploring Historic South Pass and Parting of the Ways

In the mid-1800s, westbound emigrants had three choices of routes; the northern route following much of the Missouri River and crossing steep mountains; the southern routes through Santa Fe, following much of the Old Spanish Trail; or the CA-OR-Mormon trail which focused on avoiding the steep mountain passes and deserts by crossing the continental divide at South Pass in Wyoming territory before "parting" towards either Utah, California, or Oregon. Join me today as we explore those trails in southwestern Wyoming visiting such sites as the Lander Cutoff, South Pass City, the Continental Divide at South Pass, the historic Tri-Territories Monument, and finally the Parting-of-the-Ways. I developed this channel to chronicle my adventures in my Jeep Wrangler exploring trails and offroad locations throughout the western united states.
