"The current iteration of the Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball is the eighth since the tradition began in 1907 and has been on display since 2008. One Times Square will welcome a brand-new Ball and Numerals for next year’s New Year’s Eve celebration. The current Ball will be retired and displayed inside One Times Square as part of the new Times Travel immersive history experience, which is opening to the public in the fall. Visitors to the experience will journey through decades of change in Times Square, experiencing time in unexpected ways, including an eternal midnight moment where they can view past New Year’s Eve Balls. The experience will culminate at a 360-degree viewing deck above Times Square, offering an elevated perspective of the New Year's Eve Ball and views of the city from river to river."
