Happy Thanksgiving long weekend! Today I did some planting of Glory of the Snow (Chionodoxa Forbesii) in our lawn to create a naturalized look. In this video we'll go over using a coring aerator as a method to plant small bulbs when you want a low bulb per square foot ratio. Luckily the aerator depth allows for proper bulb planting depth (2-3x deep as the bulb is tall). Note, if you're planting more bulbs per square foot you might want to consider trench planting instead. With Chionodoxa you're usually looking at 8-15 bulbs/square foot, however I only did 3.5 bulbs/square foot to hopefully create an airy look. That and I only had so many bulbs for the space! I created 3 circles to focus the bulbs in the lawn although some bulbs were planted outside the circles to connect them. Circles were 9 feet, 6 feet and 4 feet in diameter marked with twine and chopsticks!
