With attention from the media and warnings from great people, it is easy to believe that artificial intelligence and machine learning can bring or worse they are already bringing a lot of harm up to the full destruction of humankind. In this talk, Dr. Olga Isupova argues that although it is true that this powerful technology could be dangerous and misused and we should be careful about it, the same technology could be used to make our world a much better place Dr Olga Isupova focuses on developing ways to use machine learning and AI to improve the world we live in. Her main research interests include machine learning for disaster response and environment protection and anomaly detection. Dr. Isupova has received the Specialist (eq. to M.Sc.) degree in applied mathematics and computer science in 2012 from Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russia, and the PhD degree in 2017 from the University of Sheffield, U.K. She started as a Research Assistant in the machine learning field in the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford, before joining the Computer Science Department at the University of Bath as a lecturer.
