Recording of the online event. 'Embedding restorative practice: what can we learn from Norfolk?' at The Mint House. At this event we heard from Alison Newbon and Brigitte Hyde on their journey to embed restorative practice into Norfolk Alison Newbon has over 20 years of experience in the restorative field and is passionate about this way of working. As Restorative Approaches Manager for Norfolk County Council Alison’s role is to promote, train and enthuse the people of Norfolk including Norfolk County Council staff to adopt a restorative way of working, creating a culture of high challenge and high support, working WITH people. Restorative Approaches Co-ordinator Brigitte Hyde has worked alongside Alison for the last seven years, having previously spent 14 years working in youth justice. Like Alison, Brigitte is passionate about the ethos of restorative approaches and how it helps to build a framework and understanding of our interactions to build, maintain and repair relationships. Alison and Brigitte will share the story of Norfolk’s journey to embed restorative practice, followed by time for questions and discussion. Norfolk’s journey began in 2004, when a group of practitioners from the council’s Children’s Services department received training in restorative practices within schools. It is supported by a county-wide and cross-organisation strategy that embraces strategies and systems; leadership and staff; skills, knowledge and training and shared values.
