It was called "Al Majmaa", the gathering place, because it is the place where all the valleys of the region meet. It is the land that also gathered tribes and civilizations and became the spot for their meetings and farewells. History still breathes in these white columns, in these yards and behind the closed doors. And lanterns are still illuminating the plaster benches that were abandoned by the good people of this village. Muhannad Al Rabiaa says that "this souk represented the cultural, historical and political value of Al Majmaa. One of the most prominent judges who governed this town, Sheikh Abdullah Al Aakari, used to sit in this site and teach the Quran". The city is witnessing the implementation of a project called "La youtih," which hopes to bring history back to life. "All that you see here is the work of "La Youtih", insisted Al Rabiaa. "La Youtih" is a warning written in red on the crumbling houses, alerting the owner about the necessity of restoring the edifice before it falls into total disrepair. "We put the red sign for the house owner to see it. La Youtih program helped restore the old souk, the abattoir, houses and farms. We also cleaned the well and walled up the village". "La Youtih" gave the city of Al Majmaa a whole different meaning, thus, whenever the sun sets behind the hills, life pulses in walls of a new house in the little village.
