P&O Arvia Mediterranean cruise ... La Coruna .. Pier Runners

We arrived in our first port of call La Coruna on Tuesday the 24th of June . We had been told that as it was a Public holiday in this part of the world many of the restaurants and shops may not be opening until later on in the day . So breakfast was had in the Quays , an ideal place to have breakfast if you need to get somewhere in a hurry . After a quick few laps of the Promenade deck we disembarked the ship and headed into La coruna . We walked around the harbour and then headed towards the Fort ,Castillo de San Anton . Being a public holiday there was no entrance fee, it's a nice place to while away an hour or so. From there it was on to the main square . Praza de Maria Pita , before heading to San Nicolas Church . Because it was a Public Holiday the town was very quiet , we found a cafe that was open and ordered a couple of Coffees but unfortunately after waiting twenty minutes with no service we decided to leave . By this time we were looking for a bar and found one along the front opposite the harbour and the ship . .Piccadilly bar and Restaurant. As the clouds were starting to roll in and rain had been forecast we headed back to the ship .Our first port of call was the Sky dome where we stopped for a quick snack before heading to our Balcony for some well earned relaxation. This was when we had our first ever Pier runners , the tannoy announced could two passengers kindly ring a particular number , something that you hear quite often as the ship gets ready to leave port . Then the same announcement was made , by this time the Promenade deck was filling up as people were anticipating two passengers being left behind . Then we saw them running towards the ship , of course they got a very loud cheer . So the evening began with a drink in the Amber lounge before heading for a very nice dinner in the MDR . Next was Pulse in the Sky Dome , unfortunately the acoustics are still not the best . We finished the evening in the 7/10 club . Now we had two Sea days ahead of us as we headed towards Malaga.
