So as you may have noticed, I changed the channel name, so it's no longer Nstens1117, I'm just using my real name now. I've heard a number of people's pronunciations of it and 90% of them were wrong. It was also partly inspired by Ron Wasserman, the composer for the X-Men and Power Rangers theme songs. He reacted to my X-Men video and his only complaint was the channel name, because none of the guys there could pronounce it, so it had to go. Over Christmas I had the realisation that I was comparing my mixes to the wrong types of music to make them sound good. My songs have a lot of lead guitars and are more on the rock side of metal, but I was comparing my mixes to Periphery, who are very heavy and very rarely use leads and are often using 7-8 string guitars. So I've decided to switch up what my ideal mix should sound like. I'm going to try and emulate more of a Metalcore sound like Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold, Killswitch Engage, the more mainstream metal bands. You probably won't notice too drastic of a change but in my mind it'll be a big difference. So if you're ever struggling with your mixes, make sure you're comparing them to a band or a style that is similar to what you're already playing.
