The problem's particularly acute in California, where grape-pickers ran a five-year strike against growers to win union recognition and other civil rights. That strike has just ended in victory for the migrants, but a lot more still needs to be done to eradicate what a US Senate Investigating Committee has called "a national disgrace". This Report was filmed in the Wasco Valley, where we spoke to workers in the melon fields and to a nurse in a union-controlled health clinic.
