Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur in association with the CAN Foundation presents: "Internet Infringement Impacts: Transborder Reputation & Jurisdictional Issues in IPR". Esteemed Speakers: Hon'ble Mr. Justice Gautam S. Patel: He started practice in 1987 in Mumbai, working on commercial, corporate and civil litigations and also appearing in a large number of environmental public interest litigations. In 1994-1995, Mr. Justice Patel received the First international Fellowship at Pacific Energy & Resources Center, Sausalito, California in environmental law. He served as the Honorary Secretary of the Bombay Bar Association for two three-year terms from 1999 to 2005 and served on the Association's Standing Committee till his appointment as a High Court Judge. From 2008-2011 he was a Part-Time Lecturer in Administrative Law, Constitutional Law and Environmental Law at Government Law College. Hon'ble Ms. Justice Prathiba M. Singh: Before being elevated to the Bench, she was a leading Intellectual Property lawyer in India. She had the distinction of handling landmark matters in all areas of IPR laws including patents, trademarks, designs, copyright, plant varieties, internet laws, etc. As Managing Partner of Singh & Singh, she advised clients and handled cases relating to commercial disputes, arbitration, telecom, broadcasting laws, media laws, writs, regulatory issues, education etc. She has regularly appeared before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, High Court of Delhi, TDSAT, IPAB, Trademark and Patent Offices. She was appointed as Amicus Curiae by the High Court of Delhi to streamline the working of the Copyright Office. She was also appointed on a High-Level Committee for streamlining of Patent examinations. She was invited as an expert to present views to the Parliamentary Committees considering amendments to the Patents Act in 2002, Copyright Amendment Act, 2012, Geographical Indications Act etc. Mrs Singh was designated as a Senior Advocate by the Delhi High Court in December 2013. She was elevated as a Permanent Judge of the High Court of Delhi on 15th May 2017. Welcome Address by: Prof. (Dr.) V.C. Vivekanandan, Vice-Chancellor, HNLU: Prof. (Dr.) V.C. Vivekanandan has three decades of teaching and research experience and served NLSIU and NALSAR between 1990 to 2017. He also was the Dean at RGSOIPL at IIT Kharagpur between 2009-2010 and was the founding Dean of the School of Law at Bennett University at Greater Noida during 2017-2019. He holds a Bachelor's Degree, Master’s Degree and PhD Degree in law apart from a Master’s and M.Phil. Degree in Public Administration. Prof. Vivekanandan was appointed as the MHRD Chair Professor in 2008 -2009 and again from 2010 to 2017, representing Government of India negotiations in SCCR meets at Geneva as an official delegate from 2013-2015.
