Here's a really quick tutorial on how to create and add your own custom foods into the game. You can use this to make any food do anything you want by using this easy detection system. This can be combined with any of the previously shown crafting methods or perhaps a mob loot table to make your custom item a fun part of the game! Check out my new website! https://tinyurl.com/timberforge Some examples that can be made(In increasing complexity): Shulker meat which gives you levitation when eaten Cheese with custom hunger points which can mold if left in the hotbar and then poisons you A food that lets you freeze all mobs that you look at for the next 10 seconds NOTE: If you just want to make foods that have different levels of saturation/filling up the hunger bar, use the saturation potion effect (instead of strength) to give the player more hunger points when they eat the food.
