Marx was inspired to write it while away from his wife touring for three straight months while she was in Africa on location for a film. He originally intended to keep the song between his wife and himself, but later changed his mind. “Right Here Waiting” is Marx’s third and final (as of 2019) chart-topper in the US. It was also Marx’s sixth top 5 hit in a row in the US, followed by “Angelia” which became his seventh and (as of 2019) his last single to reach the top 5 !!
