Leaving our 4Runner parked on a remote forest access rd. we'd trekked into the bush to recover our gear. A little worried a Bear had gotten into the food barrel we'd cached in the bush, my brother Ted heard a noise as we approached it. It had been left in the wilderness for a month alone. Fishing at the base of the falls we used Mepps spinners, and Williams Lures to catch some small Trout. We cooked them up over the fire for a delicious shore lunch. Well, actually it was a fish fry for dinner, yum! Waking up to heavy rain wasn't nice so we waited it out for a while before cooking fry bread over the fire for breakfast. We then started the long arduous task of hauling our canoes upriver and then bushwhack portaging them around a waterfall. Continuing upriver there was very little paddling involved. Finally, we reached a creek that leads to the forest access rd where we'd left our truck. We dragged up it until it was too dry and then hauled over to the trapper's trail and portaged back to our vehicle. What a mission! My injured hand heald up well, fortunately. In the end, it was a failed trip but it was still an adventure and it was great to spend some time with my brother in the outdoors.
