Welcome back! I have a finish to share this week: my Pinwheel quilt is finished! This one was such a pleasure to quilt, and I love how it turned out. I used bright, happy colors for the pinwheels, and hand quilted them with a crosshatch pattern. In the white space, I hand quilted a feather pattern which I drafted to fit the space. This part was quilted with colorful thread to compliment the bright fabrics, and I think it turned out great! I also stopped by the local thrift store this past week, and found some goodies. I came home with a bag of lace items, some of which are factory-made, but many of which were made by hand. I just love looking at these old pieces of crochet, thinking of all the time and expertise that went into making them. These will find homes in quilts one day. I also received a lovely gift from a viewer! Nancy sent me a box of orphan blocks made years ago, with what are now gorgeous vintage fabrics. These include a stack of Monkey Wrench blocks, and a larger stack of appliqued butterflies. I just love these old fabrics, and they are in excellent condition-- these could turn into quilt tops very quickly, but I can only do the quilting so fast! Speaking of quilt tops, I have also put together my red and white Poinsettia Stars top. I have added a little outer border, and now it's ready for basting, but I still need to find a backing first. The scraps generated by this one have also been taken care of already; I have them cut down to size for my next red and white project. I hope you are loving what you're working on this week!
