In response to several comments on the channel, I’ve made a new video detailing my travel kitchen. Note: this is probably the most expanded my travel kitchen has been because I was traveling with a friend and I was the chef for the weekend! Here is my non-negotiable list of what I take on every trip. Maybe this will help you if you’re looking to carry a travel “kitchen” with you as well. 1. Travel kettle (I started bringing this with me 8-9 years ago because most hotel coffee makers are filthy—sometimes even moldy—and, i also like hot tea. Making hot water for tea in a coffee maker comes out still tasting like coffee to me, so it’s worth the extra space especially now that i have my capsule wardrobes down to a science! I have the room! I also have a very lightweight one that’s shaped more like a water bottle as well as one I take to Europe that is 220); 2. Sea to Summit collapsible tumbler (has measuring cup markings on the inside for meal prep or even oatmeal—much better than eyeballing) and, you can use it as a cup or a bowl! 3. Measuring “spoons” which are plastic scoops from my supplements recycled. They weigh next to nothing and again provide consistency for cooking or measuring supplements or greens drink ingredients; 4. Food scale (for weighing and measuring my food for meals —but also great for baking/recipes if you’re staying in a @residenceinn @airbnb or @vrbo property where you may have a full kitchen + oven available; 5. Sea Salt + gee packet + seasonings (when traveling bare bones, I’ll just bring sea salt and pepper packets but in this video I brought a tiny bottle of salt + smoked salt + 2 mini Human Gear Stax with spices for recipes); 6. Coffee + tea packets; 7. Flexible and light bar-sized cutting board—it weighs very little, is easy to pack, and, besides it’s intended use—it can also function as a surface to eat from (like a charcuterie board or snack tray if you stop for an impromptu picnic; 8. Orange peeler (it’s light and weighs next to nothing and makes dealing with citrus fruits much less messy); 9. Travel cutlery (or when bare bones I only bring collapsible chopsticks + a spoon); 10. A container or bags to store food in. Stasher Bags are great and unless trying to meet a weight or size limit, I almost always bring a bento box as well (ziplocks can also work but can’t always be reused multiple times and they do leak); 11. Reusable ice pack; 12. Folds flat lunch box or small insulated bag to pack my meals when I reach my destination; 13. Corkscrew + bottle opener.; 14. Paper sandwich bags + parchment paper; 15. Baby washcloth for washing dishes (weighs very little and packs down to nothing; 16. Square of rubbery drawer liner to help open jars (for grip); 17. 1-2 packets of Instant bone broth or soup for emergencies. 18. Misc kitchen implements like a mini veggie peeler, mini grater, meat thermometer in a sheath, a wooden spoon for scooping or serving; 19. Water filtration system for taste and to filter out impurities; 20. I typicalky travel with a thermos + water vessel based on each trip and packing requirments. I like to keep coffee in one thermos of its own…Water + hot tea in another. During my trip to Turkey a few months back when I was so restricted on luggage weight and size, I took a mini Thermos and mini water bottle-both were only 8-10 oz. Thank you for watching!
