“"Distinguish Friends of China" Award, established in 2000 by the Chinese Civic Center, is SPECIAL AWARD honoring leaders who have made significant contributions to the living, work, commerce and culture of the Chinese and American people, strengthened U.S.-China relations, or has made notable strides in promoting Chinese culture in the U.S. and around the world. This year the Distinguish Friend of China was awarded to M.s Janis Burke, CEO of the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority for her outstanding contribution to better he sports relationship between U.S. and China through Ping-Pong diplomacy. Past recipients include Former President George H.W. Bush, Former Secretary of State James Baker III, Former Mayor of Houston Lee P. Brown, President of Rice University David W. Leebron, and current Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner. The award was given at the 2022 Mid-Autumn Festival Gala heled on September 10 in the Westin Hotel at the Galleria. More than 500 people attended the event. Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and State Representative Gene Wu sent best wishes in person. General Consul of People's Republic of China Zhu Di flied from Washington D.C. to deliver best wishes on behalf of ambassador Qin Gang. Chairman Ke Cheng, executive director Dr. Yichuan Fang and chairman of the Gala Jingkun Zhang received greetings on behalf of the Chinese Community. CEO of Houston Sports Authority Janis Burke was awarded the Friend of China Title of 2022. ”中国之友“是中国人活动中心2000年设立的一个重要奖项，嘉奖为增进中美关系，传播中国文化，推动中国中美经济交流的杰出个人或团体。今年该奖授予休斯敦体育局局长Janis Burke, 表彰她在乒乓外交和中美体育文化交流方面做出的杰出贡献。 以往的获奖者包括美国前总统老布什，前国务卿贝克，前休斯敦市长Lee P.
