Dr. Thomas Marcotte, Ph.D., Professor of Psychiatry and Co-Director of the Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Marcotte researches the effects of HIV infection, and cannabis, on cognitive functioning. He investigates the impact of HIV and cannabis on driving ability. Additionally, he seeks to understand methods for identifying cannabis-impaired drivers. He presented his findings at "the Inaugural Symposium on Cannabis and People Living with HIV: At the Crossroads Between Neuropsychology and Inflammation." On April 5, 2019, it took place at the MUHC Glen site Research Institute. The CIHR Canadian HIV Trials Network (CTN) has, since 1990, been supporting a thriving community of researchers, people living with HIV and their caregivers, health advocates, and pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to generate knowledge about prevention, treatment, management, and a cure for HIV/AIDS and other blood-borne and sexually transmitted infections.
