This video provides what I do before I convert a computer lab power supply into a bench power supply. I do a short circuit test and with a load to see if the power supply unit(s) are reliable before starting conversion. This is important (and can dangerous) because there is a chance that you could short circuit or connect a device up wrong unintentionally. The hard way to find out is when you have completed the conversion process and you short circuit it and it no longer works. You then loose valuable time and money (you cannot return a dismantled PSU). With this simple test, you have to opportunity to check for reliability, save time, and money. If this test fails on any of your PSUs you want to convert to a lab bench power supply, you can simply return it to the store / RMA.
