Like I said, we got back to the hotel just in time. Not even 30 minutes after returning to our room at the Hilton Chicago, my dad and I looked out the window to see a massive downpour, with flashes of lightning every other second. The two of us went outside to get a good look at the storm, and it was something else. The rain was plentiful and coming down hard, flooding the streets in a matter of minutes. There was so much lightning that the sky would not stop flashing, and with that much lightning, the rumble of thunder could be heard throughout the rest of the night. After our first look outside, I made several trips down the to front entrance to see the storm as it got even more harsh. By 10PM, there was so much rain that several of the buildings only a few blocks away completely vanished from view. The flashes of lightning also got more intense, with some of them being nearly blinding.
