Address to Jalsa Salana Qadian, 15 November 1999

It is impossible for the believers to go forth all together. Why then does not a party from every section of them go forth that they may gain better understanding of religion and that then can caution their people when they return to them so that they may guard. ('The Holy Quran'. al-Tawbah [The Renentance]: 122). Guests from 20 countries are participating in this Jalsa [Conference] apart from those who have arrived from the far off states of India. With the Grace of Almighty God the weather during the days of the Jalsa has been fair. According to the department of Registration the numbers attending the Jalsa exceed 21000. The total number according to the Registration last year was 15313. Arrangements have been made to translate all the speeches of the conference into 6 languages in addition to Urdu. 27 newspapers have run articles about the Ahmadiyya Community and the Jalsa Salana [Annual Conference]. 15 newspapers also printed photographs of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) and the Khalifatul Masihs. Jalandhar TV showed scenes from the Jalsa in their news Programs. BBC London also broadcast a good news report of the Jalsa. For the first time since the partition a Special Train of 15 cars carrying over a thousand new converts from the Bengal reached Qadian Station non-stop from Calcutta. Similarly a train of 4 carriages arrived in Qadian from Andhra Pradesh. The Railway department gave their full cooperation. A large number of new converts have attended this Jalsa after continuous travelling of upto 2 and 3 days and having traveled a distance of 250000 -- 350000 kilometres. This includes people from the states of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa and Bihar. Apart from these around 10000 new converts have reached Qadian on buses, trucks and jeeps from the states of the Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, U.P. and Rajasthan. The Prophecies made by the Promised Messiah from God regarding the spread and success of the Community are being gloriously fulfilled today. Ever since the International Bayat Ceremony is continuing the Community in India has been proceeding forward with giant leaps. This year in the first 3 months of the preaching year the number of the Bayats in India have reached 1666531. People are accepting Ahmadiyya through true dreams and the new converts are steadfast and trust in Allah, the incidents relating to the end of those who hindered the paths of the Callers to Allah are a lesson to be learnt. The new converts are attending this Jalsa in large numbers so I will give important instructions especially addressing them ... I appeal for prayers for all those who worked for this Jalsa and thank them on behalf of myself and the worldwide Ahmadiyya Community. The new converts should also now become the hosts and receive of the bliss of serving. This era has amazing parallels with the time of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him). This year I had decided to address the Jalsa Salana Qadian only on the last day. Afterwards it was discovered that a hundred years ago in 1899 the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) had also spoken to the Jalsa Salana Qadian only on the last day.
