“Wenling Street” (温岭街) is an ancient street located in Wenqiao Town (温峤镇), Wenling City (温岭市), Zhejiang Province (浙江省), China. The “Haiqiao” mentioned in a poem by the Tang dynasty (618–907) poet Li Bai refers to this place. The street has a history of over 1,500 years. Most existing buildings date back to the Qing dynasty (1644–1912) and the Republic of China era (1912–1949). Stretching 1,500 meters, walking on the old stone slabs produces a clattering sound, while ancient wooden houses line the road, alongside traditional shops selling local goods—truly evoking the passage of time. Today, although many old houses have been preserved and restored, and much of the local community remains, some buildings are dilapidated or have collapsed. Some have been rebuilt as modern houses. With an aging and shrinking population, neglected old houses continue to disappear, slowly vanishing from the street.
