Tarot Review – Silver Witchcraft Tarot Overview: • By Barbara Moore, Illustrated by Franco Rivolli • Published by Lo Scarabeo • 78 cards in the deck. My Review I purchased this deck when it first came out in 2014 – and have used it ever since for readings. I thoroughly enjoy using this deck. It has such a positive energy and can lift your spirits just by looking at the symbolism. As my deck is about 10 years old, I can't comment on any reprints; however, I will say that mine still has the silver gilt all around the edges of the cards (which lends itself to the name of the deck) despite the edges being worn from constant use. The colours on the cards themselves are still beautifully bright and full of depth, and the card stock itself is of good quality. The only downside I have found is that while the full gloss cards are amazing to look out for, they can be challenging to control when shuffling. Whilst my deck came within a standard-size box, you can purchase it as a kit, which includes a full-size book. I've looked at various costs across the web, and the kit doesn't appear to be much more expensive than a standard deck, so if you decide to get this deck, check out the prices for each. Within the four suits, various symbols run through each of the elements. Pentacles have spiders' webs, Wands have ginger cats, Swords have athames, and Cups are (unsurprisingly) chalices, although there seem to be fewer chalices depicted than the symbols in the other three suits. I particularly like the detail on the reverse of the cards, which, if you look closely, shows the reflection of the Triple Goddess onto a nighttime stretch of water, with trees along the bank. I found this was a very popular deck when I used it for readings, and many clients actually went out and bought the deck for themselves, especially those who used to visit me for readings at witches' markets. It's not for everyone... but if you are drawn to the pagan (specifically Wiccan) side of life, it may be one for you.
