Lens subluxation in marfan syndrome, iris-fixated IOL (#19)

This is case is from a 7-year-old girl referred to us for bilateral lens subluxation in the context of Marfan syndrome, with high lenticular myopia, astigmatism and decreasing best-corrected visual acuity. The lens subluxation was severe so we opted to sacrifice the capsular bag and implant an iris-fixated anterior chamber IOL (Artisan Aphakia). In our experience the pseudophakic ACD in these eyes (which also have axial myopia) is such that it allows for safe long-term implantation with no significant endothelial cell loss.
