Vermi-compost training

Here is the demonstration for preparing vermicomposting done by ICAR NEH Sikkim Centre at lingthem, Dzongu. Items needed to prepare vermi compost: Vermibed -Dry leaves/ Hay -Dried or old cow dung. Steps to prepare: 1) Lay dow the vermibed and make sure that the output for vermiwater (hole patch at buttom of vermi bed) should be on lower level where water can flow easily. 2)Fill the buttom of vermi bed with a layer of Hay 3)Than add a layer of Dried or old cow dung. 4) Add a layer of dried leaves 5) Again add the layer of Dried or old cow dung. 6) Repeat the process of adding a layer of dried leaves and cow dung till the vermi bed is filled , remember the last layer should be of hay or dried leaves. 7) Spray little amount of water over the filled vermi bed and introduces the earthworm in the top most layer of the bed. 8) Cover the bed with a plastic sheet. Note: (To know that whether your process of preparing the vermicompost is correct or not just release the earthworm in the top most layer of the bed. If the worms bury themselves in the bed it indicates that the process is correct. Now all you need to do is spray a little amount of water in the bed daily and wait for your vermicompost to be ready.)
