The revelation He gave them was only a fragment at a time, building one truth upon another. But to us living in these last days, God now speaks to us openly in the language of a Son, the appointed Heir of everything, for through Him God created the panorama of all things and all time. Hebrews 1:1-2 (TPL) William Barclay writes in his Daily Study Bible Series on The Letter to the Hebrews that it was written as “the most sonorous [rich, full, impressive] piece of Greek in the whole New Testament and it is a passage that any classical Greek orator would have been proud to write” (Barclay, 1976). We must look at a few Greek words in the first sentence. Are you ready for a little Greek word study? I am so thankful that Father had us study the minor prophets prior to studying Hebrews. Our minor prophet study showed us the meaning of the first sentence in the Letter to the Hebrews. Jewish people familiar with these stories would not have found it hard to believe that God was still revealing His will, but it was astonishing for them to think that God had revealed Himself by speaking through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus is the fulfillment and culmination of God’s revelation through the centuries. When we know Jesus, we have all we need to be saved from our sin and to have a perfect relationship with God. Hallelujah! Our turn of believing the prophets is coming, if not already\here. In closing, Holy Spirit posed a question to me this morning that I want to pose to you. Do you believe that the Bible speaks of and do you believe there is a coming Antichrist? Yes or No? The Old Testament prophets announced, warned, demonstrated the truth of the Messiah and the Father’s heart to the Hebrew people. When the time came to pass and the truth became flesh and appeared before them, they did not believe Jesus was the One the prophets were speaking of and called Him the Devil, Beelzebub, etc. Everything except for Who He was – God’s only Begotten Son. Here’s the question: When the last days are fulfilled will we be able to recognize the Antichrist as who he is, or will be become deceived and accept his message of peace, peace? Prophets and the Word of God have told us for years that the Antichrist is coming, yes, even the spirit of antichrist is already in the world. Do we recognize it? Will we reject it? See, we’ve accepted the Messiah. We believe in Jesus. The Hebrews believed in God but were having a hard time believing Jesus was God’s Son, their Messiah. Will we be so set in our lukewarm religious ways that we think the Antichrist is good? We can’t pretend that he, the person of the Antichrist, is not becoming known. Will we accept him as good, or will we believe he comes to deceive us.
