This is a detailed video showing how to fit a new water pump and new V belts to a 2004 Mercedes SL55 AMG. The previous couple of videos showed how to remove the belts and the water pump + how to recover from the disaster of snapping a bolt whilst removing the pump. I opted to fit a low cost Quinton Hazell OES (Original Equipment Supplier) pump with a genuine Mercedes seal as opposed to a genuine Mercedes pump which would have over £400 more. My feeling is that the pumps are all cast in the same factory and the various after market suppliers simply rebrand them and add their own seals and bearings. You can have your old pump refurbished by Mercedes for around £275. From the figures below you can see that the total cost of the job including new belts and all ancillaries was a fraction of the cost. of a new pump from Mercedes FEBI radiator drain plug.
