In this clip, Pilar Gerasimo talks to Carl Richards about how to deviate from unhealthy social or cultural norms without simply suffering in a different way. As Pilar explains: “In every industry, there’s an opportunity to deviate from unhealthy, unproductive norms. Inside of corporations, in particular, every business has its own culture. [...] Most of the ways we’ve learned to operate in this culture are so not gratifying. Most people are suffering most of the time. And that becomes part of the culture. That level of stress, that level of anxiety, that level of suffering.” “The water we’re swimming in is polluted by that stress and that anxiety. So I think it’s really important for everybody to think about, whether you’re in money management, or resource development, or retail, or media… what parts of this culture incline me to do things that I notice leave me depleted?” Notice what energizes you and what diminishes you and do more of the former and less of the latter. Easy to say, harder to do, but if anything is worth the effort, it’s this. If you liked this video, you will LOVE Pilar Gerasimo’s work.
