Aerial journey over Ghazipur town in Uttar Pradesh. Fly over the world's largest Opium factory in Ghazipur. The factory was initially run by the East India Company and was used by the British during the First and Second Opium Wars with China. The Abdul Hamid bridge can be seen in the background of this video. The factory covers about 43 acres and much of its architecture is in red brick. One can see the temple to Baba Shyam and a Mazar, both said to predate the factory. The Ghazipur opium factory is situated on the banks of river Ganga. The factory was founded in 1820 by the British had been trading Ghazipur opium before that. Nowadays its output is entirely above board, controlled legally by the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act and Rules (1985) and administratively by the Indian government Ministry of Finance, overseen by a committee and a Chief Controller. One can see the residential buildings and the holy river Ganga in Ghazipur city from the air. A viewer has pointed that we ought to cover more of Ghazipur in future, so here goes: Landmarks that can be covered are: 1. Tomb of Lord Cornwallis who was governor general of India for more than a decade. 2. Abdul Hamid bridge (can be seen in the background of this video) and the new rail-cum-road bridge which is being built adjacent to it. 3. Ghats can be shown from the river bed (reti) at it exposed (not under water) during the lean season. Besides these, Railway Station, Nehru stadium, major schools and colleges, temples and mosques and the town in general can covered. Thanks, Arpit!
