Welcome dear students! Water bodies on Earth have different forms and locations such as : Oceans and seas : • They are very large water bodies. • Oceans and seas always contain salt water. Lakes : • A lake is a water body that is surrounded by land. • Most of lakes contain fresh water and some of them contain salt water. Rivers : • A river is a water body that always flows from an area of higher altitude (higher place) to an area with lower altitude (lower place) in a definite path. • Rivers always contain fresh water. Groundwater : • It is the water that lies beneath (under) the Earth's surface due to the leakage of water into Earth through a layer of porous rocks. • Groundwater always contains fresh water. Why water is considered a renewable resource? Because water can be replaced in nature through the "water cycle". • During the water cycle in nature: 1. Water present in water bodies on Earth evaporates. 2. Water vapor is collected in the air forming clouds. 3. Water returns back to the Earth’s surface in the form of rains. So, the percentage of water is constant on Earth. Why plants are considered renewable resources? Because plants can be planted from seeds that grow up forming new plants. • Plants depend on water to grow and survive, so plants are affected if the amount of water decreases or water get polluted. From the previous explanation, we can observe that: Hydrosphere interacts with biosphere, where living organisms (such as plants) in the biosphere depend on the hydrosphere to survive. Note Renewable resource means a natural resource that can be replaced. • In this activity, you are going to observe some components of an environment around you and classify them into the four main groups you have learned which are geosphere (land), hydrosphere (water), biosphere (life) and atmosphere (air). • Imagine that you are at a park as shown in the picture below : Geosphere (Land) • Soil • Rocks Hydrosphere (Water) • Puddle Biosphere (Life) • Boy • Girl • Birds • Butterflies • Trees • Grasses • Flowers Atmosphere (Air) • Wind (that moves the leaves) • Breathing of humans and animals #Science_Grade5 #mrraoufashraf #WaterBodies #Hydrosphere #Biosphere #Geosphere #Atmosphere #RenewableResources #WaterCycle #FreshWater #SaltWater #PlantsAndWater #EarthSystems #Environment #NaturalResources #LearningScience #PrimaryScience Mr. Raouf Ashraf
