The only outtake of the Ace-Tones' third album ("In Your Eyes") recordings: the song wasn't used for the album because it was the only song in Dutch. The Puch moped (more specifically: the VS50, MV50 and similar models) were to the Dutch 'nozems' in the sixties what Lambrettas and Vespas were to British mods. Puchs, too, were heavily modded: the handlebars couldn't be high enough, wide enough, or small enough... the 'haagse puch' (Puch in The Hague style) was stripped down as much as possible, painted black, and fitted with the obligatory 'blister' taillight and 'elephant condom' shock covers. The music to this song was written by Andre (including the arrangements for organ!), and the band toyed a bit with it, until Eric came up with these lyrics. It was a no-brainer of the very best kind to sing it in a proper the Hague accent! At the time, both Eric and Rob had Puchs; Eric a black 'rat bike' type and a white old-style one, and Rob had a purple one. You hear them both on this recording! And oh yeah, Rob's Puch was faster. Only by a hair - but fair is fair... it was. Ad van Dijk - vocals Andre Elskamp - guitar, vocals Eric Geevers - organ, vocals, Puch VS50 Jeannemieke Hectors - bass guitar Rob Louwers - drums, Puch MV50 Ouwe Puch was officially unreleased for a long time, but versions of it could be found on the internet quite easily. It also surfaced in 2006 on the compilation album 'het Lied van Den Haag', a CD complementing the book of the same name by Jimmy Tigges and Paul Groenendijk.
