Hey friends! 👋 I wanted to share a little about why I went into medicine—and specifically why I chose plastic surgery. 👨‍👩‍⚕️ I grew up around healthcare—my dad's an oral surgeon and my mom's a dentist. Summers spent in their practices gave me early exposure to the surgical world, and I saw firsthand how rewarding it could be. 🦷 At first, I thought I’d follow my dad into oral surgery and even joined the dental interest group in college. But after learning how competitive that route was, I pivoted to premed and took the MCAT. 📚 🎓 In med school, I explored ENT and hand surgery, but both felt a bit limited. Then my older brother, also in med school, told me about the variety in plastic surgery—from breast surgery one day to facial trauma the next. 👃👣🦿 That diversity really stuck with me. 💡 It clicked: plastic surgery combined so many of the specialties I was interested in—ENT, ortho, pediatrics—all in one. So I went all in. I studied hard, did well, matched into a competitive plastic surgery residency... and the rest is history. 🙌 🎯 If you're thinking about medicine or a surgical specialty, talk to people in the field.
