Leading organisations issued a warning on Friday about the strain the cost of living crisis is putting on mental health care in England and Wales. Campaigners say loneliness is a blight on growing numbers of peoples' lives and they want the next prime minister to make tackling the issue as a priority. Four years ago, the government approved the world's first loneliness minister but a leading charity said since then, Covid and the spiralling cost of living crisis, have massively raised the pressure on acutely lonely people.
