Why Are the farmers protesting? — The farmers are raising voice against two farm bills which were recently passed by Rajya Sabha. 1. The farmers produce trade and commerce (promotion and facilitation )Bill 2020 2. The farmers empowerment and protection agreement on price assurance and farm services Bill 2020. What the Bill say? This bill allows the farmers to sell their produce outside the governments control market or Mandis. Now farmers have abundant choices where to sell his products. The second bill makes framework for contract farming. The farmer and an Ordained buyer can strike a deal for production. Also The essential commodities amendment Bill 2020 allows intra state and inter state trade of farmers produce beyond Mandi. All this amendment are supposed to benefit the farmers. But farmers here fear that government may end the MSP -minimum support price for the products and also there is a fear of farmers getting exploited in the hands of contract business man.
