Forest of Illusion's final contribution to the prototype scene is a rather...interesting one. So there was this particular system called LodgeNet where you could play N64 games at a hotel for a small fee, and it even featured a unique controller. As it turns out, the playable games were actually slightly modified for it, and nobody's been able to safely dump them...until now. Mario Kart 64 was one such title, and right off the bat some options are locked off. Accessing Data and Options doesn't work, and you're barred from everything other than one player. You're not even allowed to skim over the other options! Even though these changes for this special revision are minute, the other games in the system are more obvious with theirs. One final note. There was a special rom on the hard drives that prevented saving and deleted save data on reset specifically for these LodgeNet versions. However, if it's not there then saving gets reactivated. I actually reset the console expecting a save wipe afterward due to this, but it never actually happened. This was played on an Everdrive 64 X7.
