Nug Nug Reserve Campground Review ~ Victoria's High Country ~ Motorhome Travels Nug Nug Reserve is a lovely low-cost bush campground near the Mount Buffalo National Park in Victoria’s High Country. It is a popular spot for camping, relaxing and exploring the surrounding areas. It is located 13 kilometres south of Myrtleford on Buffalo River Road. Myrtleford is approximately 280 kilometres north-east of Melbourne. 00:00 Introduction 00:52 Overview of Nug Nug Reserve Campground 01:50 Cost of Camping 02:10 Facilities & Amenities 02:32 Nug Nug Creek 03:15 More Information 03:50 Milawa Mustards & Myrtleford 04:15 Cooking Demonstration - Mustard-encrusted Roast Beef Camping & Amenities Access to Nug Nug Reserve from Myrtleford is on a sealed road, except for the last few kilometres, which is a good gravel road. The camping surface is a mixture of dirt and grass areas, and most areas are fairly flat. There are lots of powered and unpowered sites available throughout the campground. You can’t book a site, it is a first-come, first in basis, so when you arrive, choose your site and the caretaker will come around to collect the fees and answer any questions you may have. We chose a lovely flat site near the BBQ hut that didn’t have too many tall trees and provided good solar. The camping area has lots of trees so if you want a shady site, you will have plenty of choice. We stayed here in October, and it was not very busy. Costs It costs $7.50 per adult and $1.00 per child from 6 to 17 years, and an additional $10.00 for power per day. So, an unpowered site for 2 adults is $15.00 per day, and a powered site is $25.00 per day. Facilities There is a tennis court and a combined netball and basketball court. There are plenty of taps around the grounds, picnic tables and undercover electric BBQs. There are also two amenity buildings. The Nug Nug Creek meanders through the campsite, and there are several lovely sites near the creek. You can also swim in the creek, with several areas that are easily accessible. More Information Nug Nug is dog-friendly, but dogs must be on a lead at all times. Fires are allowed as long as there is no Fire Ban. The camping spots are easily accessible for motorhomes. We had good Telstra mobile coverage when we stayed. Flushing toilets are available. There is a Dump Point near the new amenities building. Water is available. There are Rubbish and recycling bins. Lots of Powered sites available. There are also cold showers. On our way to Nug Nug Reserve, we visited Milawa Mustard for a quick mustard tasting and bought some lovely mustards and pickles. We also went into Myrtleford, which is only 13 kilometres from Nug Nug Reserve and has Supermarkets, Cafes, butchers, hotels, chemists, Service stations and plenty of other shops. At the Clyde Street Butchery in Myrtleford, we bought a Blade Beef Roast and cooked up a delicious Mustard-encrusted Roast Beef in the Weber.
