I want to talk about a crucial aspect of dealing with narcissists: they never truly intend to move on from you. In fact, narcissists, in about 99.9% of cases, do not genuinely discard their connections. The idea of being discarded is often an illusion. To help clarify this point, I want to provide you with some important factors to consider. The reason I am making this video is that I want you to grasp the significance of your power when interacting with someone who is codependent and relies heavily on you. Many individuals in these situations feel incredibly helpless and powerless. You might find yourself thinking, “Oh my gosh, I feel so lost. I feel so trapped.” However, it is essential to understand that narcissists are fundamentally terrified of being without their supply. This fear drives their behavior and explains why they act the way they do. They are caught in a toxic cycle that is deeply ingrained in their personality. This cycle is not just unhealthy; it is pathological. Narcissists do not change their patterns; they merely switch from one supply to another. The underlying cycle remains the same, indicating that their behavior is a permanent aspect of their personality disorder. When we encounter narcissists, many people mistakenly believe that these individuals can easily move on. While it is true that narcissists may appear to move on, they do not genuinely care about the emotional impact of their actions. There is a level of truth in that statement, but it is important to remember what I shared from my interview with a licensed psychologist. This professional, who has worked with individuals diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder in the penal system, revealed some fascinating insights. During our conversation, she mentioned that many of her clients often reminisce about their past supplies. They ruminate and fantasize about those connections, even if some of those supplies are no longer part of their lives due to tragic circumstances. This behavior highlights the fact that narcissists are not capable of true emotional detachment. They may move on superficially, but their thoughts often linger on those they have discarded.
