With ‘Dirty Sprite 2’ and ‘What a Time To Be Alive,’ the Atlanta native changed the sound of mainstream hip-hop. With ‘HENDRXX’ and ‘Beast Mode 2,’ he took the mask off and crowned himself the Toxic King. This reign continues as “WAIT FOR U,” with Drake featured and Tems sampled, currently dominates radio. But it’s also a defensive phrase, a means of shielding true emotions.
