Part one of a two-part video from the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park. This was the site of the Revolutionary War battle that took place here in March 1781. General Charles Cornwallis of the British Army clashed with the American Patriots led by General Nathaniel Greene, whom the city of Greensboro, NC is named in honor of. Although victorious, General Cornwallis lost 25% of his army, forcing him to Yorktown hoping to restrengthen his unit. This battle is what helped lead to the eventual surrender of General Cornwallis' army in Yorktown, VA, securing America's independence.
